Who runs this site

ClevererInvestor covers stock and options trade recommendation services, including newsletters, alert services, and trading education platforms. We evaluate every site using the same consistent criteria, with a focus on identifying each company’s strengths, weaknesses, and competitive advantages. When a service has a meaningful advantage, we highlight it to help readers better understand what sets it apart.

How we evaluate services

Every service we review is one we've researched directly: we check that it's currently active, gather pricing and feature details from the service's own current materials, and cross-check marketing claims (win rates, backtested returns, and similar figures) against what can actually be verified. Where a claim can't be independently verified, we label it explicitly as an unverified marketing claim rather than repeating it as fact.

Every service is scored 0 to 10 on the same five weighted criteria, and that same rubric is applied to Option Strategies Insider. This methodology took effect in September 2026:

Here's the subscore breakdown behind each service's published score, so the math isn't a black box:

ServiceReasoningCost/ideaTransparencyEducationBreadthScore
Mindful Trader8.39.07.86.09.08.1
Motley Fool Stock Advisor8.08.38.06.86.57.7
Simpler Trading7.37.07.38.57.57.4
Benzinga Options7.97.66.76.06.07.0
TheoTrade Ultima Alerts8.25.35.88.56.26.7

Subscores are rounded to the nearest 0.5 and weighted per the percentages above; the final score is rounded to one decimal. A service's transparency subscore is reduced when it markets a win rate, backtest, or return figure that we can't independently verify, regardless of whether that service is a competitor or the one we operate. We'll re-score every service whenever we refresh a review with materially new facts.

How we may make money

Some links to third-party services on this site may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no added cost to you. This is a common arrangement for review sites in this industry. Affiliate relationships, where they exist, do not influence how a service is scored or ranked, our evaluation criteria are applied the same way regardless of whether a link is monetized.
